Just thought I’d share a little of our weekend - - - this one was like so many others and gives an insight into the life that we lead and enjoy - - -
Friday: Friday night after work we had accepted an invitation to babysit Nathan and our grandpuppy around 6:30ish. Stefanie called and asked if we wanted to come down early and have dinner with them so off we went. Dinner was terrific! She made a great chicken enchilada casserole with rice! It was terrific and made totally in the microwave so of course I begged her for the recipe. Later in the weekend when Pool Boy stopped by he mentioned what a good cook his sister had become!
We had a nice dinner and when Superman and Stefanie went to the movie we had a great time playing with the grand puppy and Nathan. They both are very well behaved with pleasant personalities Nathan just loves to play outside. He definitely is all boy - - -he even managed to sneak outside on us with his jammies on - -I think he would have played out there all night instead of going to bed if we had let him!
Saturday: Saturday started with our weekly venture to the garage sale store. We had invited Mom out to go with us and to have breakfast. So after the garage sale store where we picked up some new treasures, I helped hem her pants while Nineandahalf fixed us a wonderful Jimmy Dean sausage skillet breakfast, English muffins and coffee. It was great! So while we ate, we talked and planned about our cruise looming ahead. A little less than two weeks and we’ll all be floating away to Alaska. It’s getting close now and we are all getting excited. Nineandahalf calls this Alaska 1-2-3-4 - - -
My 4th trip . .his 3rd trip . . my mom’s 2nd trip and my sister, Bratty Brat’s 1st trip. Yes there’s a story here about Bratty Brat . . but I’ll save that for another post - - just in case I should run out of interesting things to talk about and tales to tell . . .We then ran off to explore other “haunts” (our name for thrift stores) - - first the Salvation Army in Sumner and then up to South Hill to the Salvation Army and Goodwill there. Both Mom and I found dazzling .and I do mean dazzling cruise wear to add to our collection down in Sumner. It spurned us on to get packing and get even more excited for our trip. Half the fun is dressing up in the evenings and we all enjoy that part immensely - -it’s like going to Senior Prom each night! What’s not to love about that??????
We managed to kill most of the day and she went home in the mid afternoon -- - a few hours later Pool Boy arrived on the scene looking for a meal at mom’s house. He’s going to South Dakota soon and I’m not sure how many more “mom meals” he’ll have for a bit so of course I had to fix my signature dish - -tacos! If only I had made the family favorite – Taco Cupcakes for dessert . I sure wish I had thought of that - -he would have laughed. He loves tacos and said they hit the spot. As for the Taco Cupcakes - -they are an old family recipe. . LOL . ..the kids still raze me about them . . .Once and I do mean ONLY once . .although to hear them tell it is was often . . . .I made these cupcakes . . .and I had run out of oil . . .so I thought -- - why not use the oil I had fried the taco shells in the night before . .. it sound like a good idea at the time .. but in hindsight . .well . . the outcome was cupcakes that tasted like tacos . . .now if you are a taco lover like me that’s not so bad . .. but most folks didn’t care for these delightful treats!
And that brings us to . .
Sunday! Sunday . . .my favorite day of the week. I just love the quiet solitude of the d ay . . ..the lifetime movies - -- the nothing to do because errands were all run the day before .. .and so as we often do . .I spent the day sewing dresses . . . .and staying in my pjs all day . .It does make me Sew Happy! Together Nineandahalf and I managed to whip out 15 dresses! An all time record . . .of course I think my new sewing machine - -- I call the Cadillac - -definitely helps .. it trims and snips thread . . lifts the pressure foot with a nudge of my knee and will start and stop itself without even using the foot pedal! It’s amazing - - -
And so another wonderful weekend draws to a close with a plate of Sausage and Pepper Fettucini and glass of red wine. Life really doesn’t get any better than this!
