So . . .I guess taking care of the grandbabies . . . includes “grand dog duties” as we discovered this past weekend.
The Grandbabies ( and their parents of course) took a weekend away and drove to Pullman to spend the weekend with Furrbait and see the college campus. The two granddogs were to stay at home and a neighbor girl come over to let them in and out of their kennels and feed them. These cute lab puppies, Charles and Lucy, are 9 mos old and full of mischief.
We had just settled in for a nice relaxing weekend in our jammies, when an emergency call cam from Stef. Help, Help, Help . .. she was hysterical. Apparently the puppies had been left in the house for the evening. Big mistake there after all . . they are puppies. When the little girl arrived to put them in the kennel for the night what a sight she did behold. The puppies had feasted on the pantry . . . wrappers and all . . .and of course with upset tummies and no way to get out . . well I’m sure you can imagine the sight . . and of course smell! Miles away and with no one to call on . . .Nineandhalf and myself were the closest options . . .Living less than 7 miles away now . . we were the obvious choice.
Knowing my aversion to icky smells - - -good Ole Nineandahalf .. . . got dressed and went over to take care of business . . . .and the doggie business. Oh my . .. I guess it was something . . . .He cleaned it up and went back over on Saturday and then we both went on Sunday to scrub the carpets before the family got home. He is such a trooper . . and certainly this falls outside of the normal duties for a grandpa. . .but he did it without complaint!
Well . . after all . .when we watch the grandbabies . .I take care of the diapers and other bathroom issues . .. . he’s in charge of the granddogs!
