I was awakened the other morning by a phone call before 6. It was Molehead ( the kids’ dad) calling. He had just heard on the news of a house fire in the 18000 block of Lake Desire Drive. Now that street isn’t that big . . . and that community is pretty small . . and more important that is where my Bratty Brat lives in my mom’s house.
I turned on the news right away and of course called my mom. Forunately it was not her home . .. but it was far too close for comfort. It was one of the houses just next door. The neighbor (who I have known since he was a little boy), Nick, was instrumental in saving the life of the man who lived in the house. He pulled him from the burning house! The news showed the whole thing and even interviewed him.
It was strange to think about being so close to home . . .and having someone I personally knew such a hero. Proof positive that ordinary people do extraordinary things!
